WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday rejected 10 petitions challenging EPA's 2009 finding that climate-warming greenhouse gas emissions endanger human health and the environment.

Warmer Climate Entails Increased Release of Carbon Dioxide by Inland Lakes

Much organically bound carbon is deposited on inland lake bottoms and Swedish researchers have shown in a new study in Nature that carbon retention by sediment at lake bottoms is highly temperature-sensitive and that a warmer climate would result in increased carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere.
